Barbara Kanc is a dancer, dance pedagogue, performer and choreographer. She graduated at Trinity Laban conservatoire of music and dance in London and prior to that attended the Artistical gymnasium for contemporary dance in Ljubljana.

After her studies she received Simone Michelle award for outstanding achievements in choreography for the season of 2006/2007. For a few years, she then moved to the visual/intermediate art field, where she created performative, movement and sound installations. At that time mainly creating works with visual artists Metod Blejec, Rie Nakajima and Marie Roux.

As a dancer she collaborated in works of Maja Delak, Natalija Manojlović Varga, Dejan Srhoj, Katja Legin, Sanja Tropp Frühwald, AEIOU theater, Matjaž Farič, Mala Kline. And has been, since 2012 involved with the processual project No!Training Lab, led by choreographer Katja Legin.

In 2014 she created her own work Searchings; Untitled (Emanat produc), which was among selected pieces of biannual festival Gibanica.  As an author she is also active in medieval and Renaissance dance and music field, collaborating with different ensembles.

Since 2010 she teaches creative and contemporary dance to children and teens at various public and private institutions. Along with that she has been involved as a dancer in two performances for young audience, Doodledee it’s me (Sanja Tropp Frühwald & AEIOU, 2015)and CTRL.SHIFT.ESC (Natalija Manojlović Varga, 2019).  As a choreographer she recently choreographed for experiential multimedia performance Peekaboo (Mateja Bizjak Petit, 2019).
